The Story Behind Ebenezer Church Properties
Breathing New Life into a Guernsey Landmark

In March 2021, Jonathan Ruff purchased Ebenezer Church with a vision to revive one of Guernsey’s most distinctive historic buildings. Working with leading local architects and structural engineers, plans were finalised and construction began just a few months later, in July 2021.

Converting a church is never simple — its structure poses unique design challenges. But for Jonathan, this was familiar territory. Ebenezer Church was his fifth church conversion, and with each project, he’s refined his skill in blending heritage preservation with modern design.

A Labour of Love

The result is a stunning collection of 17 unique apartments, each combining original character with contemporary elegance. It was a demanding project, but one that reflects Jonathan’s passion and attention to detail. Today, eight apartments are already home to happy residents, and Jonathan has even kept one as his own — a peaceful retreat within the building he helped bring back to life.

Looking Ahead

Following the success of this development, Jonathan and his local business partner Luke Graham established Bailiwick Developments Ltd, a Guernsey-based construction company employing talented local tradespeople to manage all of Jonathan’s future projects.

Next up: the former Lloyds Bank in St Martins and a redevelopment on New Street, St Peter Port.
